momentous week

3 BIG things happened back in August, in the same week! Elise started riding her  bike with out training wheels, Ray started walking, and Melody acknowledged she had a bike and wanted to ride it! They are all getting so big!

We finally traded in our "cool card"for a minivan. It was hard to depart with our explorer, but we needed something more functional for our family. I LOVED my SUV, but having sliding doors that open when I push a button helps me get over it. Here's to a new chapter for me and my family.

Firsts

Our Elise started First Grade!

She was suuuper excited. (If you couldn’t tell) She went and lined up when the bell rang and never looked back. Did I cry? Absolutely not! I’m just not that kind of mom. I don’t think about me, I’m thinking about them. About how much fun they’re going to have, what they are going to learn about. All the cute friends that they will make. I’m learning most mom’s aren’t like this.  Something is wrong with them, it can’t be me!   She really has blossomed so much since starting preschool and she just keeps getting better with age. I do miss having my cute girl around all day, but I look forward to funny stories she tells me when she gets home from school.  We are having a little problem with eating our lunch at school, but that is how Elise is. Food has never been a priority. Were working on it, I know she’ll figure it out soon. 

Melody started Preschool! She is sooooo excited! She asks me everyday if today is preschool. (She goes Monday, Wednesday, Friday) She has the same teacher that Elise had in preschool, whom we love and adore. She is my fearless girl and walked right into school and never looked back. She can already write the letter M, and tells me every time I pick her up if they got to do a “Bear Hunt” or not. It’s kind of funny how sad she gets when they don’t.

My kids are growing and maturing soooo fast. I think the more kids you have the faster is goes! I’m so happy for them! Seeing them learn and experience new things, watching them connect how things work or how to sound out words. The possibilities are endless! The world is a scary place, but it’s also right at their fingertips! My hope is that they are learning to explore every subject, find out what they love and really learn all they can, to hopefully be a contributing person to society, help others, and make the world a better place. (I know that’s kind of cheesy, but hey, it’s how I feel. )

Happy Birthday Melody!

Melody had a super stellar fun Mermaid Birthday! We had a ton of friends come over and just play in the water. (That’s on the wonderful things about having a summer birthday.)  She got a slip and slide plus a water ball sprinkler thingy, which they played with at the party. I think her most favorite gift was her “My Little Pony, Twilight Sparkle Dress.”

You are still my cute little sasaphrass. 4 going on 14.   Always wanting to learn more and explore the world. You still surprise me with your random acts of shyness, which really is an “act.” You love to be a mommy and want to be like your big sister. Thanks for always brightening our day! You keep us laughing with your funny dances and even funnier songs you make up on the spot. You have the best imagination, making up stories and playing like you’re the only one in the room. We LOVE LOVE LOVE our Melody!

Cali getaway

Brian and I got to go on a much needed getaway to California. Plus Brian needed to be their for work that week so Adobe paid for his flight, and we used a credit he got from a previous business trip to pay for my ticket. I went out a few days after Brian got their. I got to hang out with his cousin Michelle for the day while Brian finished working. She took me to some behind the scenes places. We had lunch at Fenton's, which is the ice cream place from “Up.” (You know at the end where they are pointing out all the red a blue cars?”) It was a cute place. Then she took me to the Oakland Temple, such a pretty temple with an amazing view out to the bay. I feel bad I didn’t actually get a picture with Michelle! Love you Michelle! Thanks for being so awesome!

Friday afternoon we left to go out to Salina’s to pick up our race packets. Then stopped at a yummy restaurant for dinner. Isn’t my hubby to handsome!?

So this was the BIG race I’ve been training for, since March. The Salinas Valley Half Marathon. (I know this is a crazy thing to do on our “relaxing” getaway, but this is how I get to spend time with my husband. I have to train and do a half marathon) Anyways, It was such a fun race! Kind of chilly  and overcast at the start, but that’s great running weather! The race went through farms and vineyards, they even had signs labeling all the plants. Plus, running at sea level is awesome! My cardio was great the whole time, and once my legs went numb it was a breeze!   Brian was my amazing mule/encourager. We finished in 2 hours 17 minutes! 7 minutes faster than my last half marathon! BOOYA!

After we finished, we drove out to Monterey Bay. It too was overcast a chilly, that we were bummed  about. It was still fun, riding bikes along the coast, running on the beach, and eating sushi until my belly got distended! Plus we got to stay in bed every night a watch the Olympics in peace.

Super duper fun weekend, with the best guy I know. Love you moose!!!!
