Baby Ray is here!

Raymond Brian Wells

7lbs 14 oz

21 1/4 inches

In the hospital there was a photography company that offered to take your babies picture. Not like the horrible mugshots they used to do, but really nice pictures. It was so nice to document them at a day old and still stay in the nice safe hospital.

Now onto our ugly pictures we took.:)

So this was my 3rd baby but 1st c-section. So we experienced everything new this time around. From walking to the OR and the surgery and back to my room it took a little over an hour. Much faster than with Melody (11 1/2 hours!) Originally my c-section was scheduled for 5 pm, but the day before I asked if there were any cancellations, and there was. So I got it moved up to 12 pm. Funny thing is they didn't inform my doctor! So it was 10 minutes before we were supposed to start and still no doc! But they called him and I think he beamed himself there because we still started on time. So they gave me the spinal and I'm laying on the table while there are like 10 people in the room doing a thousand different things. I thought I was doing fine and staying calm until they put the shield up. I guess I hid it really well but I started FREAKING OUT inside! I guess I was getting claustrophobic. I just kept saying in my head, "I don't like this, I want this to stop, this so so different!" Plus with a spinal you can't move or feel pain, but I could feel tugging etc. So it only took about 10 minutes from starting to cut to Ray arriving. When the doctor pulled him out we found out he had 2 knots in his cord.

As you can see here. My doctor said because of that I might have had to have a c-section anyways.

I didn't get to see Ray for about 20 minutes, I could hear him though! That is the best sound in the world! Brian was so good to go back and forth and take pictures of him for me. The anaesthesiologist tried to move the shield a little so I could see him from a distance. After that, while I was waiting to see him, I started to get REALLY tired and loopy. The anaesthesiologist could see me struggling to stay awake and tried to convince me to take a nap. I thought it was the strangest thing ever! I just had a baby! But then my doctor popped his head in over the shield and told me to take a nap, and just relax. So I did! Not too many people can say they did that while having a baby. ;)

After they finished sewing me up I got to hold him as they wheeled me back to my room. Pretty fast and slick! It was nice the spinal wore off about an hour after.

Showing off all his great hair!

Can you tell which sister was a little "Stand offish?"

Our family of 5!

I guess I'm one of the few women that gets to experience both a vaginal birth and a c-section. My grandma asked me which one I preferred. Hands down I still like vaginal birth. My recovery for a c-section has been really good so far but I still recover faster with a vaginal birth. Was it nice to get it all done in a hour? We'll of course! But I still would rather be inconvenienced for a few hours and be able to walk on my own, not have a catheter, and be able to bend over without pain.

I'm so happy to have Ray here with us. He is a great baby and a wonderful addition to our family.

He's got a different look about him than the girls doesn't he? Holy HAIR! He's already got a shag going on, he's so hip (bet Brian's jealous). j/k Such a cute family, Melody looks a little apprehensive int he pictures but Elise, is an old pro! So glad he made it here safely. You're bringing him here July 4th right? Just an idea. :)
